MERLO HOLDS THE OFFICIAL WORLD LAND SPEED RECORD FOR HANDLERS - AT 21.80 mph A LITTLE SLOWER THAN THRUST!

Merlo UK is proud to have been one of the sponsors for the Thrust SSC project - the British challenge which led to the first supersonic World Land Speed Record! Richard Noble OBE (holder of the previous 633 mph record) turned to Plant Hirers Gamble Jarvis for help when building Thrust SSC. Merlo UK MD John Iles arranged to loan a 6 tonne capacity P60.6 EVS, thus becoming a vital sponsor

To show their appreciation, the Thrust SSC team ran their Merlo through the same measured mile, gaining another first for Merlo - the world Land Speed Record for telescopic handlers!

Thrust SSC driver, RAF pilot Andy Green, speaks for the whole team in saying that "The Merlo was indispensable - it did just about everything!"
