Merlo handlers have always been exceptionally stable when travelling, due to their long wheel base and excellent balance. Now, two types of suspension system can be ordered for some Panoramic or Turbofarmer models. Machines featuring frame levelling can be fitted with a front axle Electronic Active Suspension system, absorbing shock loads when travelling on rough ground at the axle. Fixed front axle models can utilise the simpler Boom Suspension System.
B.S.S - Boom Suspension System

Nitrogen/oil accumulators are fitted into the boom lift circuit. When the system is activated, it damps movement of the payload, smoothing out the ride over rough surfaces. The result is reduced payload loss and a more comfortable ride
E.A.S - Electronic Active Suspension

The EAS uses the frame levelling cylinders to support the front axle. A series of nitrogen/oil accumulators are controlled by electronics and provide full and reactive axle suspension.
As axle shocks cannot reach the chassis and be transmitted to the cab, EAS has a substantial effect upon Whole Body Vibration dosage as well as reducing payload loss.

CS - Cab Suspension System
In early 2007, Merlo SpA won technogical awards for a unique cab suspension system, due to be introduced in 2008. This makes Merlo the ONLY telehandler company to completely address Whole Body vibration levels.
