Tilting cab on Roto 40.25 MCSS

The MCSS series adds continuous slewing, fully independent outriggers and the flexibility and safety of the MERlin digital control system. Lifting to an amazing 25.25m, the flagship ROTO 40.25 MCSS features a boom with no less than 5 sliding extensions, giving an exceptionally smooth extension which is essential at these heights. A key part of the new machine is the marriage of Merlo’s MERlin LCD display to a Computerised Stability System, giving a real-time graphical display of machine stability. A ‘Load-sensing’ hydraulic system is standard throughout.

As well as displaying all the information needed for safe operation, the MCSS system blocks any further motion when the stability limit is approached. The operator can also preset lifting height and turret rotation. The system operates independently of the stabiliser position or the type of attachment fitted, overcoming the disadvantages of other manufacturer’s fixed systems.

The MCSS system is quite unlike the systems in use by other manufacturers. Rather than relying on strain gauge and extensiometer technology, it leaps ahead to give a ‘real-time’ calculation of actual machine stability, by measuring pressure in the stabiliser legs. A dedicated microprocessor turns this information into a display of the actual centre of gravity of the machine and load combination.
