Aerial platform attachments are playing an increasingly significant part in the construction and maintenance business.
Merlo Group company Tre Emme produces a wide range of platform attachments for Merlo handlers. All are integrated platforms - that is, they are fully controlled from within the platform. What is more, all Merlo platforms also conform with British Standard BS EN 280:2001, and can be used as fully certified MEWPS. They are attached to the handler's carrier, and fixed in place with a solid pin. All platforms include a load limiter in addition to the handler's own overload system.
The Merlo range is huge as Merlo have long pioneered the safe use of platforms upon telehandlers. Indeed, Merlo UK was a founder member of the IPAF Telehandler Committee, set up primarily to ensure the safe use of telehandlers in this way. Merlo SpA is an IPAF training centre in its own right (the first in Italy) - a further proof of our dedication to safety in the work place!
Two points to remember in the UK - HSE Guidance Note PM28 should be read before using a telehandler fitted with a platform and the frequency of the Thorough Test and Inspection is 6 months when lifting people!
The International Powered Access Federation is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to ensuring the safe work at height using powered access equipment
