Polish operator, Raphael Liss hails from the Dansk region and has worked in the UK for 18 months.
“I’ve driven a number of different types” he says “But this Merlo is by far the best yet. The biggest difference is that I can see out - on all of the other machines I’ve driven it’s been very difficult to see properly, and on this site that’s essential for the safety of other workers”
The site is a Llewllyn new-build apartment project in Islington, using a 16m Panoramic P40.16 KS hired from Cox Plant’s fleet. The site is very confined with only one access, and is barely wider than twice the length of the machine.
This Merlo was supplied to Cox Hire by Jason Davey at HM Plant (Slough) and was one of the first Deutz-engined P40.16 KS units imported.
Raphael agrees that the new engine is very smooth and quiet, but the best feature overall is the integral sideshift - “Simply unbeatable” he says!
