Dec 2004

Back in 2000, Jack and Sam Brinkley bought their first Merlo (a 13m machine) and started their own plant enterprise. True, at 4 and 3 years respectively, they were a little young to be driving, so they let Dad drive it on Grandad’s building sites!

Grandad is Bert Brinkley, he and son Dave run H E Brinkley Homes at Belton, near Doncaster and four times winners of the NHBC Seal of Excellence. They obviously specialise in very high quality residential buildings and demand a very quality machine to service their sites. Over the years, their needs have changed, bringing the need for ever larger machines, the last one being a 14m P40.14K.

Now, Jack and Sam have got a new partner, and he seems likely to be a powerful influence. Said to be a ‘little Bert’ by Grandma, newcomer Max is 5 years old and already knows his mind. He seems to be very happy with the Group’s newest choice – a 17m P40.17K, flagship of the Panoramic range.

Bert Brinkley and Grandsons

“I told my Grandad to buy the big one!”

Bert is also happy with Max’s choice – “We need the extra reach as we are building ever higher. With this machine we can place all our joists, and without running over the garden. Like all Merlo machines, it’s very compact and easy to drive. And, of course, it still has all the features like sideshift and those compact stabilisers”.
